53. Midnighters #1 (The Secret Hour) by Scott Westerfeld.
This picture is terrible. It's the only clock I could get to where I could change the hands to 12 real quick. You can barely even tell. OH WELL. MOVING ON.
These books are short, quick, easy, nothing magnificent but not bad. I love Scott Westerfeld. We all know this. It's an awesome story though..like..the shit he comes up with is amazing. I give him so much credit in the young adult world. MAJOR. FUCKING. CREDIT.
This is about a group of teens in Bixby, Oklahoma. When the clock hits 12am for them, time freezes for an hour. For example, the main character (Jessica) walks outside during the "midnight hour" and the rain isn't falling, it's just stand-still in the air, little drops of water surrounding her. If she touches it, her hand gets wet and the drop goes away. Most people are frozen in this hour, all but a few teens that live there and DUN DUN DUN CREATURES. Creatures that are dangerous and only come out in the midnight hour. Untouched metal and thirteen-letter words weaken them. Each teen that experiences the midnight hour has a different quality..one can read minds, one can fly, one is really good at math. It all ties together. Jessica doesn't know what HER power is and that's kind of the point of the book..she's trying to figure it out. Because all the creatures are attracted to her and chase after her and that usually doesn't happen. WHY is it happening to her? READ IT AND FIND OUT.
Totally cool.
